Master’s in Economics

The University of Tennessee offers a Masters of Arts in Economics through the College of Arts and Sciences. Students should apply directly through the UT Graduate School, and there is no separate application to the Haslam College of Business or the Economics Department.

The program is focused on preparing quality students for top Ph.D. programs or careers in government or industry. Its non-thesis track typically takes three semesters and requires passing a comprehensive exam in microeconomic or macroeconomic theory. Additionally, a thesis-based degree is available and can typically be completed in three or four semesters.
